What: Egg decorating demonstration and personalizing of egg ornaments
Who: Daniela Sipkova-Mahoney, born in Prague, Czech Republic came to the United Stated on October 19, 1982. Daniela has been crafting eggs since 1983 and has decorated 84,000 egg ornaments in the past 28 years (an average of 10 per day).
If you stacked those eggs in dozen size cartons, they would form “Daniela’s tower of Freedom”, about 1,750 feet tall, making it according to infoplease.com World’s fifth tallest tower, approximately 500 feet taller than the Empire State Building.
In an effort to preserve the Czech/Slovak heritage, Daniela has been teaching cultural crafts as a residency artist in the Pacific Northwest and travelled natiowide as a guest speaker and publisher of ethnic activity books for children.
Rabbit Romp at the Oregon Zoo – April 7th
Rabbit Romp is a celebration of spring for everyone. Candy “egg” hunts occur every 20 minutes for children 10 years or younger. Toddlers 2 and under will have their very own candy hunt designed just for them. Don’t forget to bring a basket. Games, petting zoo and fun for everyone. Daniela will decorate eggs with children and adults using the traditional wax resistant method. (Cost: $ 1 per egg)
